How To Reach Sindhudurg Fort
Sidhudurg Fort is located in the Sindhudurg district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is counted in the list of the strongest sea forts in India. It is well-known tourists attractions in Konkan. This sea fort is situated on the shore of Malvan town in the district of Sindhudurg.
Sindhudurg fort is located at a distance of 550 Km from Mumbai,380 Km from Pune,570 Km from Nashik,140 Km from Ratnagiri, and 400 Km away from Raigad.
The fort was built by architect Hiroji Indulkar under the supervision of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It took about 3 years to complete the construction of this fort. The construction was started on 25 Nov.1664 and completed in 1667.
The fort is spread over a total area of 48 acres. The entrance of this fort is designed in such a way that nobody can identify it from the outside. The fort was built to keep an eye on the enemies and to protect the kingdom.
It is the only one fort in Maharashtra which has the temple of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaaj. Beside the temple, there is a museum which has a collection of many posters showing the all information about the old coins, famous Forts, statues, swords and so on.
How To Reach Sindhudurg:
By Road:
Sindhudurg fort is easily accessible by road. You can take the bus to Malvan. Maharashtra state transport buses run regularly to Malvan. From Malvan bus stand about 5 to 10 min. of the walking distance you will get Malvan jetty.
From Malvan jetty you have to buy tickets for a ferry ride.
By Train:Â
You have to catch the train to Kudal. Kudal railway station is the nearest station to Sindhudurg. It is located at a distance of 34 Km away from Sindhudurg Fort.
From Kudal Railway station, about 10-15 min. of the walking distance you will get Kudal bus stand. From the Kudal bus stand you can take bus to Malvan. otherwise, you can take a rickshaw to Malvan.
By Air:
Dabolim International Airport is the closest airport to Sindhudurg. It is situated at a distance of 165 Km away from Sindhudurg. From airport, you can take a cab or bus to reach Sindhudurg.
