Konkan is a beautiful scenic spot located in the Western part of the state of Maharashtra. It is divided into a total of 7 districts. 1.Bhogwe Beach:  

Bhogwe beach is one of the best and cleanest beaches in Konkan. It is about 6 km from Parule Bazaar. Parule bazaar is situated in the kudal city, Sindhudurg District. Bhogwe beach is located on the western shores of the Sindhudurg district. It is near to Nivati Fort.
The beach is between the famous beaches Tarkarli and vengurla. Speckled by rocks and forests makes this beach unique. It is included in the list of the top cleanest beaches in India. It is the best spot for travelers looking for peace and to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The sparkling white sand, blue water, beautiful weather, surrounded by lush greenery, unending sea, enchants you and gives you an amazing experience.
This beach is different from all other beaches. Here you can enjoy swimming without any worries as it’s not dangerous as the rest of the beaches. But it can be quite risky in the monsoon. Water sports activities are also available like Scuba diving, parasailing, and so on.

2.Tarkarli Beach:

It is one of the most famous and finest beaches in Konkan. It is about 25 km from Bhogwe beach and 30 km. away from Kudal station. Tarkarli beach got more famous after Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (M.T.D.C.) started the beach resort in Tarkarli and declared  as one of the premier and cleanest beaches in Maharashtra. Best spot to view the sunset.
Tarkarli beach is a very clean and exquisite beach in Sindhudurg. It is like heaven for beach lovers. Speckled by coconut trees, sparkling white sand, water attracts everyone and forces you to come back again and again. Morning walk on this beach is really awesome. If you come here in the morning, you will see starfish on the beach. It is also famous for its water sports activities like a Banana rides, Speed boat rides, Parasailing, Scuba-diving, and so on.

3.Tsunami Island:

It is one of the famous spots in Sindhudurg. In recent years, it has become a significant location for water sport activities. It is located in the city of Kudal, in the district of Sindhudurg. It is about 3 km. from Bhogwe beach and 30 km. from Kudal.
Here you can enjoy many water sports like a Banana ride, Bumpy ride, Speed boat ride, Scuba-Diving, and Parasailing. There is something special about this Island is that the water level rises automatically in the afternoon and goes decreasing in the early morning. Here you will get many small snacks shops for breakfast.
You can reach here by boat or auto. From Parule Bazaar chowk you will easily get an auto to reach here which will cost you Rs.150 for 4 people. If you are alone, then also you will have to pay Rs.150. When tsunami waves hit the Indian ocean in the year 2004, at that time Tsunami Island appeared. Due to this, Island got its name Tsunami Island.

4.Nivati Beach:

It is situated very close to Nivati Fort. Nivati Fort is not in good condition but the view from the top is  awesome. If you are looking for peace then it is a perfect destination for you. It is less crowded compare to other beaches in Sindhudurg. Best place for photography enthusiasts.
The sound of the waves, the chirping of birds, the beautiful nature, give you an unforgettable experience. Nivati beach is about 5 km. away from Bhogwe and 10 km. from Tarkarli. Located in parule village. There are many ways to get there. You can go by boat or vehicle.

5:Devbagh Beach:

It is about 3 km. from Bhogwe beach. It is located near Tsunami Island. From Tsunami Island you can easily reach Devbagh by boat. Devbagh beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Konkan. It is located in Malvan city. Devbagh is about 30 km. from Kudal railway station. It is less crowded compare to other beaches. Numerous hotels and resorts are also present at this site.

Rent vehicle is also available. You can rent a vehicle to enjoy your trip and to fully explore the famous spots in Sindhudurg. Devbagh beach is not only famous for the sparkling beach, golden sand but also famous for the water sports activities. Especially famous for Scuba-Diving. They will take you to the deep sea for Scuba-Diving. This place is better than the rest of the places for scuba diving. From my personal experience, I would like to suggest you to do scuba diving in this beach.

If you are planning to visit Konkan, plan your trip for 5-6 days. Because there are many interesting things that we can do. It will be better if you did your all bookings including water sports activities and ferry ride in advance. It will save your time.
Apart from all of this, there are famous 7-8 points, that you will enjoy by ferry ride. Morning is the best time to visit these points. It will be great if you get here by 6 a.m. since most of the people want to see the Dolphins.

You can easily explore all the famous spots in the Sindhudurg district from this location. Otherwise, you can also book a hotel in Malvan, Best hotels are available at this site.




MTDC has luxurious resorts near the Tarkarli beach. If you want to stay near Tarkarli, there are lots of hotels are available at the beachfront.

How to reach:

You have to catch the train to Kudal. From Kudal station about 5 to 10 min. of a walking distance you will get bus stand. From the bus stand you have to catch the bus to Malvan. If you have booked your hotel near Parule Bazaar then you have to get off at Parule Bazaar. Auto is also available and  it will cost you Rs.700-800.

Bus charges : 

From kudal to Parule bajaar:  Rs.40-50
From Parule Bajaar to Malvan:  Rs.30-40

Best time to visit:

The best time to visit is between oct-jun. Just before the rainy season. Winter is the best season to visit Konkan.
