Goa is not only about Beaches but also about lots of adventures things that we can do. Dudhsagar waterfall is one of them. The unimaginable beauty of this waterfall gives you  breathtaking view.Never forget to visit this place if you are going to visit Goa.

Dudhsagar waterfall is one of the most famous tallest waterfall in India. It is India’s fifth tallest waterfall having 310 m height and 30 m width. It is situated in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and on the  Goa-Karnataka border. When water falls it feels like we are entering in the Heaven.Seeing the  white water falling down,it seemse like Milk is falling to the Earth,So it also named as ‘Sea of Milk’.(Dudh-Milk,Sagar-sea)

The rail route of Madgaon junction to Belagavi is passed through this waterfall. Dudhsagar Waterfall got more famous after the shooting scenes of  famous  Bollywood movie”chennai Express”.The view from the Dudhsagar rail bridge is awesome. You will get the zoom view of the fall. One part of the fall will be above you and rest of the part is below to bridge.Trains usually running slowly while passing the bridge to feel the amazing beauty of this waterfall. Rail route passing through the fall makes this waterfall unique. I never seen such type of beauty in my life.

Dudhsagar waterfall

It is four tiered waterfall located on the mandovi river in the Indian state of Goa.Waterfall is overloaded with lush greenery, running water  during the monsoon season which gives you awe-inspiring view.A trek to Dudhsagar waterfall is one of the ideal picnic spots for trekkers. Due to this stunning beauty ,Dudhsagar waterfall is among the one of the most popular waterfall in all over the World.

How to reach:

1.By Train:

You have to catch the  train to kulem from Madgaon junction or Vasco-da-Gama station. From kulem you can take taxi to Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary. After entering ,you have to buy ticket for Jeep safari via Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary organised by Forest Department which will cost you Rs.500 (per person). and then jeeps by the Forest Department will take you to the Dudhsagar waterfall.Private vehicle is not allowed.

I suggest you to take the trek route to make this moment unforgettable and to make more exiting. The most exiting part of this journey is walking on the railway track ,when it passes through the dark tunnels,it gives you bewildering experience.

If you have children, old age person with you then it would be better to go by jeep given by the  Forest Department. If you want to  explore Dudhsagar waterfalls during Rainy season ,Jeep safari is not available.Trekking is the only way to reach Dudhsagar waterfall during this time. The jeep safari involves so many adventures  things like taking bumpy ride on the muddy road, going through the dense forest and a walk through Bhagwan Mahaveer wildlife sanctuary. You have to buy life jacket which will cost you Rs.40 per person, you can’t go on a jeep safari without a life jacket.

Note: If you are in train and heading towards the Kulem, you will get the Kalem station just before the Kulem. So don’t be confused between these two stations. As many people get off the Kalem station instead of Kulem station.

Distance: By Train

From Kulem station: 10 km

From Castle Rock station:14 km.

From Madgaon junction to Kulem: 33 km

From Vasco-da-Gama station to Kulem: 57 km

2.By Road:

If you are anywhere in Goa,you can take a cab or rent vehicle. Suppose if you are in Baga, the distance between the Baga to Waterfall is about 68 km. In my opinion this is an easy and simple way to reach by road. It’s better if you visit by your own vehicle .Because if you go by train, you will be reach but there  is less chance to come back by train, which will puts you in trouble as the trains are not running on the time that we want. If you want to fully explore the Dudhsagar Waterfall it will take about 5-6 hr.That’s why i’m telling you to visit by your own vehicle,Cab or Taxi. But not to wholly rely on train.

Distance: By Road

From Panjim: 75 km.

From Baga:86 km.

Best time to visit:

Best time to visit is between October to March, just after the rainy season.Rainy season is also best time to feel the beauty of waterfall But most of the time in rainy season, the government closes the waterfall due to rising water levels.

 Opening time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
